It feels like I just did a Summer Post, and yet here we are, 6 weeks later, and fast approaching the start of August. I've recently developed a much stronger appreciation for all the great things about summer. The beach, cookouts, rooftop bars, and most importantly... the music! Because I can't seem to get enough of the sounds of summer, here are 3 more tracks perfect for the warm weather and late nights.
I don't think summer for a trance enthusiast could even be possible without at least one song from Roger Shah's wonderful Sunlounger project. Featuring a more chilled, often times more acoustic style, it's a blend of trance music with the sounds of summer. The aptly titled "Summer Escape" is the perfect beach, rooftop, or patio tune to turn the heat up on your mid-summer evening.
The Cash Cash hit single Lightning with the incredibly talented John Rzeznik of the Goo Goo Dolls has been nothing but a runaway success over the past few months. Even our own Dash Berlin got into the action with an excellent remix. Recently, one of my favorite house producers, EDX, stoked the growing fire even more with his "Miami Sunset Remix". Taking the progressive single in a completely different direction, EDX lathers it up with his iconic, groovy house style, with a strong touch of South Beach flavor.
I'm not exactly sure why I gravitated toward this track so much, but between the Spanish guitar riff and the steel drum accents, it just felt like a perfect summer tune. A trio of artists make up the production project known as Carnival, with Milan DJ Antillas providing the steel drum emphasized remix. There are a handful of house songs out there that capture this amazing international beach vibe, but this is now one of my favorites!
It seems like there is an endless supply of great summer tunes, and yet not enough summer to enjoy them all. We've roughly hit the halfway point of summer 2014, and it feels like it is flying by way too fast. Hopefully this slightly more laidback selection of music this week will help you take time to pause and really enjoy the amazing summer that is slipping away into the sunset.
